Description

The Montane Cordillera is an exquisite attraction to visit due to all of the stunning physical features and wildlife that this ecozone provides. The vegetation thrives here because of the high rate of precipitation and wide variety of rich soils found on the mountains, plateaus, and prairies. The Montane Cordillera has great agriculture, forestry, and tourism industries and as a result, this Canadian Ecozone has a large population. The major urban cities are Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George, Cranbrook, Quesnel and Williams Lake. The thriving vegetation has a tremendous growing season of 140-240 days which includes the Coniferous Tree, Engleman Spruce, and Ponderosa Pine. The main physical features that contribute to the Montane Cordillera's appeal are the Rocky Mountains (mountain range) and Glaciers. These physical features creates many activities for tourists who visit this ecozone which inclues snow skiing, snow boarding, hiking, zip lining, mountain biking, cross county skiing, etc.
